Thing 1 & 2

Why are you participating in 23 Things? What do you hope to learn? What new insights did you have during Thing 1? How does writing on the Internet, knowing anyone could read it, change how you write or feel about writing?

I am participating in this class to become more tech savvy and try to keep up with the changing times (gee, that makes me sound old). I am currently teaching Media to elementary students and Computers for middle schoolers. I am always interested in learning new things and finding other avenues for teaching lessons. I am a little uncomfortable with putting personal information on the internet. Hopefully, that will be something I can become more comfortable with.

I thought the ideas presented in Thing 1 were very interesting. This sounds like a wonderful way for teachers to collaborate and share ideas. It is very informative for parents and students. I can also see the benefit for administrators. However, it does seem like a lot of extra work to my already busy day. I have not participated in anything like this before. As with anything, the more you do it the more farmiliar it becomes.

One thing that I learned was to ask for help before spending too much time trying to figure things out on my own. I now have a rule of asking for help after 15 minutes of trying on my own. Learning communities are filled with experts on many different apects of technology.
